Yesterday's afternoon, Aug 19th some selected Pre-U1 & ex-Pre-U2 2007 students who managed to scholarships from various govt & pvt sectors for this years batch attended a 'Doa Selamat' ceremony held at the SMSA's Library (1st floor). About 51 students are being offered with different field of courses (a-levels & degrees mainly in science, engineering, ICT programme etc) at certain schools, colleges & universities in United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and two Pre-U1 students are sponsored to further studies at J.I.S. The scholarships scheme are sponsored by BSP, MoE, MoD, RBA & DANA.

The function began with recitation of Surah al-Fatihah & Doa Selamat by Ustaz Hj Abdul Rahim, Usuluddin tutor
Speech by our boss, Mr Cheong Huat Joo, the Principal
Followed by speeches from a few recipients of the scholarship scheme
Then, presentation of souvenirs by the principal to the scholarship recipients
Ex-head boy 2006/2007, Md Yazid bin Hj Md Yakub, will be studying at Imperial College, London, UK pursuing Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering)
Mrs Yong @ Cheong Poh Lian, former SM in SMSA (yr 2000) now Principal in SMPW with her daughter, Yong Yee Fang will be studying A-Level Biology, Chemistry, Physics & Maths at Malvern St. James School, UK
Cikgu Puasa, our Art teacher with his daughter, Norlela will be studying A-Level Maths, Chemistry, Physics & Biology at Shrewsbury College, Shropshire, UK
Ms Michelle Tieng, 6th form Physics tutor with her sister, Tieng Chwei Peng will be studying A-Levels at Stathallan School, Perth, Scotland, UK
